The idea to start a blog came to me not too long ago, right after sending an email to a friend containing advice on Barefoot running. Although I know a good bit about Barefoot running, being a practitioner myself, I still took some time to do extra research to make sure I was giving the best advice I could.
What I discovered was that I really enjoyed the process, from the research to the actual act of being able to help out my friend in his quest to try something new. I was so excited, in fact, that my poor friend got a nice three page email in his inbox full of information.
I realized that perhaps I could funnel all that researching and typing into a forum that could help lots of people (hopefully). While I'm not an expert by any means, and there are a plethora of athletes/nutritionists/equipment reviewers/etc. out there who are much better and more knowledgeable than I, I do have the advantage of being all of these things in my own small respect. I've been an athlete for years and have tested my fair share of equipment in my day (just ask my bank account). I also do not have an agenda. Although I may favor one product over another, it's because that's my honest opinion, and not because I have a sponsor leaning over my shoulder making sure I promote their product because they pay me to do so.
So, my aim with this blog is to share my reasearch, opinions, and insights into all things fitness, health, and fun! I'll write plenty about running and also offer simple, healthy eating suggestions for athletes on the go. I'll probably write about gear I use, sports and activities I try, and, well... whatever floats my boat!
I consider myself a "common" athlete. I will never be famous for my accomplishments, but, like most, that's not why I do what I do. I do it for the love of the sport. I do it for the love of being outdoors. I do it for the love of trying something new. I run, swim, practice yoga, climb, kayak, ski, and bike. And my list is always growing!!
